The Record Producer Program
The Record Producer Program is a 1-year course in music production and sound engineering based at Hackney Road Studios
Featuring small class sizes of only 3 students per group, you will learn from accomplished record producers Mikko Gordon & Sean Woodlock, who have long and proven track records in the music industry.
You’ll learn all the technical, creative and business skills needed to have a career in the music industry.

What you will learn:
Utilise industry standard tools (including DAW’s such as Pro tools as well as an extensive array of Plug-Ins and our outboard gear)
Microphone techniques
How to work on large format analogue consoles
How to operate Tape machines
Develop and implement compositional and arrangement ideas for music productions
Work collaboratively as part of a creative team, maximising group-based projects and outcomes
Time manage music production projects
Solve problems through reflection and adaptation of knowledge
Understand the fundamentals of the music business, including marketing strategies and applications
Manage your professional career development.
More about the course
On graduating, you will be able to:
Produce, record and mix high-quality, professional recordings
Competently use recording studio software and hardware
Develop your career and navigate the music industry
Troubleshoot effectively in a recording studio environment and be able to work under pressure
Have an understanding of how to work with analogue tape
Develop an Individual aesthetic and sonic identity
Additional Benefits:
Graduates of this course will receive the option to interview for a runner position at established London commercial studios as well as some shifts at Hackney Road Studios.
You will also have made industry contacts during the course which you can continue to develop.
There is also the option to become a sharer at Hackney Road following graduation and you will receive a discount on monthly fees for one year while you build your career.

Mikko Gordon
Mikko Gordon is a Grammy nominated record producer whose credits include, Idles, Thom Yorke, The Smile, Arcade Fire and Colouring.

Sean Woodlock
Sean Woodlock is a Record Producer/mix engineer and co-founder of Hackney Road Studios. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the table and is one of the few to still mix on an analogue console.

Facilities
Hackney Road studios was founded in 2010 and is a thriving commercial studio in the heart of East London.
Featuring vintage SSL E-series and Neve 66 Consoles, as well a lots of outboard and synthesisers and analogue tape machines.

The Record Producer Program is a new route in the music industry offering an intensive one-year course designed in collaboration with the team at Hackney Road Studios and our wider network of industry experts.
Join a practical, hands-on programme with a strong emphasis on learning technical skills and developing your creativity and confidence. You’ll spend time learning in small groups at the studio and working independently.
You will learn from industry-leading music producers and engineers. Learn alongside and collaborate with your peers.
